  1. The Symantec AntiVirus Research Center (SARC) announces detection for
  2. the first Excel Macro Virus, XM.Laroux. SARC Researchers have been
  3. working on this virus from the minute it arrived at the Center. As
  4. with all SARC solutions, you need only download a single file to
  5. update any of the Norton AntiVirus products.
  6.      
  7. The definition update (new virus fingerprint database) is packaged in
  8. our Intelligent Updater so that users need only download the single
  9. file, and then run it. Intelligent Updater will take care of the
  10. rest, regardless of the PC platform be it DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows
  11. 95 or Windows NT. As always, these downloads are free.

  13. For proper detection of viruses in Excel spreadsheets, users must add
  14. the extension .XL? to the program file lists. Please see your NAV
  15. User's Guide for full instructions on how to make these additions.
